Question by jonB: Whats the best digital camera to buy under £100?
I’m looking for a digital camera with rechargeable battery that is on sale in the UK.

I’m looking on the argos online site and there are many cameras to chose from on special offer. They range from 10mp, 12mp and 14mp, I’m not sure if higher mp necessarily means better picture quality or does it?

What are some of the best cameras out there at the moment under £100?

Thanks

Cameras at that price are out there but understand they’re junk and disposable. That means that when, not if, they fail you throw it away and buy another. They’re not worth having at that price.

Some cool best digital camera to buy images:

        What’s In My Bag
445463297 4f83dc49ca Whats In My Bag

Earlier today when reviewing the EF 50mm f/1.2 lens, a commenter asked what I kept in my bag. I’ve written a lot about the different gear that I use day in and day out, but not a comprehensive "what’s in my bag" post.

I’m pretty anal about my gear. It goes with me pretty much everywhere. I think as a photographer so many of the best shots happen spontaneously. I’ve kicked myself too many times early on for not having my camera gear with me. So now it goes with me everywhere. To work, on the weekends, in my car, I always keep my gear with me. I try to do this 100% of the time.

The actual bag that I use is a Lowepro bag. It’s a really nice laptop camera combo bag called the CompuDayPack.

So, here’s what’s in my bag.

1 Canon EOS 5D digital SLR
        1 EF 50mm f/1.2 lens
        1 EF 24mm f/1.4 lens
        1 EF 135mm f/2 lens
        1 EF 100mm f/2.8 macro lens
1 Canon EF 1.4x II extender
1 8 GB SanDisk Ultra II compact flash memory card
1 4 GB Transcend compact flash memory card
        1 CameraMate CF Card Reader
1 Canon RS-80N3 Remote Switch (cable release)
        1 Canon CG-580 battery charger
        3 Canon Li-ion battery packs
1 set V-Moda Bass Freq Modaphones
        1 box 100 Moo cards
        1 Verizon EVDO card
        1 MacBook Pro
        1 incase MacBook Pro case
        1 pen
        1 small notepad

My favorite lens to shoot is the EF 135 f/2.

I shoot every single day and each day dump the contents of my shoot onto my MacBook Pro’s hard drive. I process some of these images and then about once a week dump the folders of each day onto an external 750GB Seagate hard drive. I’ve got about 5.5 terabytes of storage at present. I highly recommend the 750GB external USB Seagates.

Gear at home that sometimes comes out with me, but is not included in my bag are

        1 SLIK 611-800 Tripod
        1 Bogen-Manfrotto 725B Digi Tripod
        1 Canon EOS 10D camera
        1 Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens
        1 Canon EF 70-200 f/4 zoom
        1 Canon EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom
        1 Canon Speedlite 550EX flash
        2 MacBook Pro power adapters
All the hoods for my respective lenses

All of my lenses have UV filters on them. Most recently I’ve been buying Hoya Ultras which are a little nicer than standard.

In terms of where to buy gear, my number one recommendation is B&H Photo. I also think Costco is a pretty good place to buy a camera body because of their very flexible return policy.

I hate buying at most camera stores here in the Bay Area. The selection is generally not very good. Maybe it’s just me but I also haven’t found the service terribly good at most of them. I’m not going to name names but given the store markups over what you can buy online typically it’s just not worth the hassle for me.

Other than cameras, I’m not really a fan of ‘gadgets’, but I love this diminutive printer. With an A5-sized footprint, it prints out 6×4 inch photos in good quality, quickly and easily.
Simply connect a digital camera or a PC/Mac via a USB lead and a minute later, you’ve got a lovely print-out that will last "forever". (Canon archive paper is said to to be guaranteed for 100+ years).
Ink cartridges come in a pack with just the right amount of paper and the price is pretty competitive. If I buy a battery pack, I could take it out and use it for "instant prints", since it takes about the same time to print a sheet as a Polaroid camera does, and it’s not a lot bigger. The back of the prints is even laid out like a postcard, so you can add a stamp and pop your photos in the post.

        Holga HL-N 60mm f/8, mounted on Nikon D700
5572686602 76c8f68cf7 Whats In My Bag

I got this new toy today, the Holga HL-N 60mm f/8 lens.

It’s a tiny, all plastic lens, with plastic mount and a simple uncoated, plastic lens. Its aperture is fixed and Holga itself states it is f/8, though calculatory it is in fact f/13. The build quality is very low, but hey, what are you expecting for less than 15 Euros, worldwide shipping from Hong Kong included.

        My first impressions:

        - Thanks to the fixed aperture the viewfinder is very dark and you can hardly see what you are framing at, especially in low light.
        - Good luck with setting the focus distance right – the viewfinder is too dark to see anything.
        - The official focussing distance is between 0.7 and 10 meters, but images are never really sharp.
        - The best way of shooting is the Lomo way: set focus distance by the symbols painted on the lens (one guy, a family, many guys, a mountain) and point & shoot from the hip.
        - My D700 hardly ever gets the expose right with the HL-N. I had to underexpose by 1-2 EV all the time, and even then some pictures where still quite overexposed.
        - The images have the typical Holga softness, but vignetting is hardly visible. Okay, it’s a medium format lens, mounted on a 35mm format camera. But just as the lens arrived today, I heard that Holga has released a second version of the HL-N, with more vignetting even on DX cameras. I ordered that one today as well, so I will see how it compares.
        - Of course on digital the images are missing some characteristics of the 120 film Holga: light leaks, film grain, film that had to be pushed to compensate failed exposures.

Overall: It is a fun little lens, and as a long time Holga camera fan who has become too lazy to buy, shoot and develop 120 film, I really enjoy this lens. But I’m still looking forward to get my hands on that Mk. II version of the HL-N.

Question by Leyend123: What’s a good professional photography guide book for beginners?
I want to buy a Digital SLR camera, but first obviously I need to know how to use it before I buy it. I am completely clueless on the subject, in fact I just learned the term SLR the last week! Please anyone know any good books on the subject? Thanks in advance!!!

          Answer by FotoZ 4 FX
          http://www.betterphoto.com/photography-articles/Beginning-Photography/

Learning photography requires some reading and getting to know your equipment. I would suggest that, once you have made your purchase choice (*Nikon*) based on ergonomics and lens quality (*Nikkor*), you will want to sit down with your Owners Manual and Camera together and get to know the controls.

The additional reading will help you to understand to an increasing degree, how the aperture and shutter integrate with each other to produce special compositional considerations when making photography decisions on how to best present your images to others (getting the reaction, stimulating response… selling your work).

There are a number of books so recommending an Author without compensation is something I will not do… why should I make them richer if they aren’t paying me for promotion?

I’m a single mom on a budget and am in need of a new camera. I don’t have a lot of money but don’t want to buy a cheap camera with cheap looking pictures. So what is the best camera with the best picture outcome?

Well, depends on your budget. And “best picture” is subjective. That said, check out the Olympus Stylus 5010 found on Walmart.com. It sells for $ 89 and has 14MP resolution.

3730169531 cb4f5d6cbd m Q&A: Whats the best waterproof camera case for Canon SD970IS?
              by NedraI

Question by Nichole: Whats the best waterproof camera case for Canon SD970IS?
I’m needing a waterproof camera case for my canon camera. I’m only using it for jet skiing but just in case it falls in the water I want a case for it. I’m kind of afraid to buy one as I’ve heard of some of these leaking! Anyone know of a good quality case for under $ 40, if there is one? Thanks.

              Best answer:

              Answer by David M
Under $ 40 is not going to get you anything worth having. Underwater housings even for point and shoot cameras can easily cost more than the camera. $ 300-$ 500 should get you a decent one.

Question by Just The Way You Taste: What’s the best digital camera under 0 for a beginner?
                Hi!
I love taking pictures and sometimes I get lucky and I get a really great one, but the picture quality always sucks cause I’m using a horrible 3.1 mega pixel camera. What’s the best camera (not too complicated) out there for a beginner like me, under $ 200? I like to take nature and landscape photos so I want one that’s going to take nice, sharp pictures. Thanks!

about 150 maybe less if you get it on sale. kodak 10.1 pixel its great and it also ups by ubs cord. you can buy disks for it and it works really well for computers to up load and easy.
